hey guys, I was hoping someone on here could provide a bit of guidance. I was given a Seamaster 25 but the engine and everything has been stripped so I have a blank platform to work with.

What would be my best course of action in terms of engine choice?
Is it worth getting an inboard such as a Perkins 4108 or I would be willing to marinise an engine if someone has a good suggestion or should I just settle for mounting an outboard?

Any help is greatly appreciated as I am new to working on boats so I'm still wet behind the ears

I assume it is just for river in which case I would consider fitting an outboard motor, A'four stroke out board would be hugely quieter than a smokey smelly old perkins.
You would need to reinforce the transom where the motor is mounted and probably easier to mount on a bracket.
I had a 150hp mounted on a substantial "Gill Bracket"
I believe there is a UK company manufacturing a fibreglass bracket/swim platform ..
