Sealing eberspacher heater exhaust

What’s the best sealant to use on the exhaust fittings? Is a setting car exhaust paste ok?

I am no expert but would think something that retains some flexibility and is actually described as sealant would be better than something that presumably sets and might be more suitable for repairing (with exhaust bandage?) holes etc.

I am in the process of installing a new Eber type heater in a boat. The commendably full instructions (which relate to installation on both boats and inside vehicles) advise using exhaust 'sealant' on the joints in the exhaust system.

I went to a car spares/accessories shop, and found that they had both exhaust 'sealant' and 'repair paste' (both the same brand and similar prices). I assume that while 'repair paste' might do, 'sealant' is the more appropriate for what I need.

I don't make the stuff.
I make nothing from the company.
It does what it says on the tube.
It works on the top of a Squirrel stove.
Other high temperature silicones are available.

It was a general comment based on something you had written. Not a shot at the messenger.

We all learn by what people post on here and i was puzzled at what on a boat would produce such high tempratures. Its the questioning engineer in me. Hence the comment on answers on a postcard. Perhaps PBO could do an artical on the subject.
