I know there is a compound available from the chandlers that can add a liquid sealant to the inside of the air chambers, but is there anything non nautical that can achieve the same task (also cheaper) ?

I have used a US product called Slime. It is bright green!

Gave me an extra 18 months on a dink that had leaky seams.

Pour it in, inflate dink and roll the dink over to distribute it.

In the USA the price varied a lot with the truck stops being much cheaper than the Ducati dealership. Same Slime I am told.

I think that distributing a sealant evenly around the inside of an inflatable would be fairly difficult. I had an old Avon which went soft after 2-3 days, I painted it with Polymarine Hypalon Paint, really for cosmetic reasons, and was surprised at the improvement in air-tightness, but not particularly cheap these days.
