Sealine Statesman 305 - Speedo Probs

Anyone know anything about sppedo problem on sealine 305's? the paddle wheel is free (but covered in antifoul) Ive shaved some of that off but not budge on the speedo?

The wheel must spin freely. Also, as the paddlewheel thing has a little magnet in it, this has to be there. I have the stowe speed log, and can easily get 16 knots on the 'speed 1' setting by flicking the wheel (I'm out of the water currently). If the boat is in the water, try slackening the nut inside the hull (lovely place to get at isn't it?!!) and turn the sender through 180 degrees. It might work better if reversed. If you suspect the sender, then try running 2 wires out from the display head log terminals and pulse-tapping a rapid short circuit on those 2 wires - you should get some indication of speed on the display. Speed logs are not too expensive as they are relatively simple bits of kit compared to the echo sounders.
