Sealine saloon clock

The clock in the saloon keeps stopping. It is a cheap AA battery movement but they are asking silly money for a replacement clock.
Has anyone out there replaced the movement? And if so how did you open the clock face for access.

You can get the movements, there are only a few manufacturers and they manufacture a whole range of sizes and styles, they are cheap to buy and insert into your existing bezel, if it is analogue then you can get a variety of dials to your preferred style.

Thanks Assassin. My main problem is getting into the darn thing to be able to replace the movement.
There is a gap in the rear of the clock but seems too small and I can't see any screws or way to remove the old unit.

Maybe a photo might elicit additional advice? I just replaced the movement on my tide clock and was amazed at numbers of supplies of clock workings. Or ask on the Sealine website as is the issue clock removal ?

The difficult bit is to get the case off.
I popped mine in the oven at 180 and it tapped off a treat.

What cheap rubbish!
I brought the clock home, put it in the oven and eventually got it apart - burnt thumbs etc.
Fitted the new mechanism (cost a fiver including postage) only to find I don't seem able to refit the pointers. The central spindle is different.
Any suggestions welcome.
Will probably just buy another type of clock and baro with roughly the same diameter.
How 'they' can justify £180 for a new clock is bewildering.

There are 2 styles of mechanism, sounds like you may have the other:

J486011 or J40126 seem to be the 2 common ones.

To save 180 I might be prepared to speak to a clock specialist or send them a photo so the hands fit the spindle.

unfortunately I don’t have the details now if what mechanism I purchased . However I hot it correct as clock working well a number of mints since my refurb

Perhaps I ordered the wrong mechanism (j486012) now ordered the other (j40126) :got to be worth a try for a fiver.

You must have ordered the wrong one because it is an easy fit.
However I found the second hand got stuck on a part of the glass now and again, it must have just been touching. Easy fix I just chucked the second hand.

J40126 arrived this morning together with new white pointers which are more robust than the originals. All back together now including a coat of matt black for the case.
