I had a good look a the Sealine S38 at the Southampton Boat Show and will probably buy one.

My question though is not about the boat itself but about the way Sealine boats in general are retailed. I've seen the adverts for Sealine Direct and for the 'Sealine Exchange' which includes their network of independent dealers.

Does anyone have experience of Sealine Direct or the dealers? Is it better to deal with 'Direct' or the dealer network and are any of the dealers better than the other dealers?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

We bought a 45 footer from Sealine Direct in Southampton and got excellent service.
They will give you a warranty that you cannot usually get when buying through brokerage.
Good luck

We have had good after sales service. We bought our boat four years ago and this summer somebody pinched our rubbing strake (about 20 metres of the stuff). Sealine sent a roll by DHL and it arrived two days later - no charge whatsoever.
Cant say fairer than that.

A couple of years ago I bought a new S37 from Southampton (Direct sales). Because they are direct they have a straight link to the factory and are able to get replacement bits very easily and without hassel.
I really liked the informality of Sealine and it is easy to get on with them.
I had a few small problems in Sardinia and Sealine were happy for 'locals' to fix and they promptly paid up.
My only advice would be when you go for your final inspection and sign off, to go with a very critical eye. We want that day to be one of the best in our lives but it can cloud our critical judgement.
So go with a critical friend and go over everything. Sealine are excellent at replacing faults/mistakes with no quibble. One wonders at the cost of this against getting things right first time!!
The S37 is a super boat and I'm sure the S38 will be even better...have fun

I have bought from both (New from dealer, nearly new direct). Luckily, I've never had any serious problems, but the minor ones I have had have always been resolved.

Personally, I would probably deal direct with Southampton - but i've always boated on the south coast/solent area.

The only reason I would think you might be better off with a dealer was if your boat was moored nearer them.

I got my new sealine direct from southampton (hamble) last year, Its the smallest in the range S23, But the after sales have been great. The problems we had were sorted out in no time. Still keep in contact and made to feel just like the bigger boat owners. (well done paul) I will be looking at a larger sealine next year all being well.

Re: Who Me ?

We Bought an S24 from the Southampton office, and have been v.pleased with service so far. The few small problems were sorted out without fuss, and they seem to run a mini version of the factory round the back of the dealership !

Would happily buy another from them again, if funds permitted.
Still saving...
...and waiting for an updated S28/S34.
