Sealine S330 to make its international debut at Southampton

I personally really like the look of this boat. I like the plumb bow and the roof.

Good job we dont all like the same things i suppose.

I wonder if they will offer a 370Hp D6? That would be my set up of choice. woudl give 30knts plus and be cost effective to run/service

Wonder if they will do a soft top? as other have said, hard tops on these boats don't look great.

I doubt it. They did a soft top SC35/380 whatever you want to call it, they only built two and they had to give those away. One came on the second hand market about 18 months ago and sold for sub £100k when SC35s of similar vintage were still making £150k plus.

Look at the numbers, nearly 300 SC35/S380s built vs 2 S35 opens

+1
The slidey roof concept really does produce ugly boats, how long till they go bust again...

I think it looks great, much sharper than the Beneteau GT34.

If you want to see ugly, have you seen Bavaria's latest attempt with their "new" sports cruiser range?
Fairly certain my daughter could do better with Lego.

Yes, hopeless design..... but they will sell many more of them than the new Sealine model. Bavaria's boats are among the cheapest for their size and this one has an enclosed center cockpit although it is conceptually still considered a hardtop. Nice when it's cold and rainy....... I think Bavaria will find lots of buyers for this "thing"

I realy don't understand the excitement over this boat, surely it's a sealine in name only?
Just another boat from another foreign yard
I could understand people buying 'British' when they were made here but there is no more reason to be excited about them than any other foreign boat
It's not like they keeping the UK economy alive

Does it have to be British in order for one to be excited about it..?

The excitement is because 30ft ish boats that are well designed and reasonably priced are few and far between, so if it sells well, that will be good news all around.

Because it's a decent entry level biat, as FP says. From an excellent designer (Dixon).

I drive a German car, have a German kitchen - I can't see why I'm not allowed to be excited about a new biat model just because it's not built here. Looks like the move to Germany is putting sealine back on track

Perhaps people still think there's some Sealine DNA in this boat. People might also wonder if this is a boat that could have saved Sealine - it does seem that it is what Sealine were good at, i.e. practical boats at a decent price.

As you say, takes all sorts......looks like a caravan with outdrives to me.

I still remember when the other "emperors new clothes boat" - SC29 came out to same rave reviews - now second-hand prices half of what they were new...

A decent SC29 will be maybe £80k.
They were £120k new in 2007, so not unusually bad depreciation.

I suspect Sealine UK wouldn't have had the economies of scale or the mass production techniques that Hanse have, so I don't think that is a foregone conclusion. I agree though, Hanse do appear to have the right idea for Sealine.

Wow, what a well proportioned boat IMO.
It should bring plenty of potential punters to the stand at Southampton Boatshow.

Regarding the brand, my thoughts are that it is still alive and hopefully will continue to prosper like Jaguar etc.

But Jaguar are still made in the UK, so we get bit of the cake.
