Sealine docking system

I now I'm going to regret asking this question, has anyone operated one or even got one ?

Sorting the stores the other day I came across a box of spares for them, never been opened in 10 years, it got me thinking how it got on in actual use and did it work ?

In 2001 I designed the thing for them, but never was allowed to see it work . The theory was good, and the possible developments to include RF remote, anchor winch etc control was in the pipeline, but it was very frustrating never to have physically tried it out.

I haven't ever heard of such a thing. Was it like the driverless parking systems now operational for cars? Or more like parking sensors? Or lateral vectoring?

It went onto several S48's, F42/5 but I'm not sure what else.
This test skipper seemed to like it.

They had it fitted on the School F42/5 Alpha back in 2001 and worked okay controlling the Bow thruster, Stern Thruster and forward or reverse on the gearboxes. But being a School boat that had to work on its own budget never got fixed when it developed a fault.
I believe the principle is the same as what ZF and Twin Disk offer on a shaft boat now all be it that the new versions from them prefer to have a hydraulic bow and stern thruster ??????

No a joystick, you went were you pushed the stick, you had 8 points of the compass N, NE, W SE, S, SW, W NW, plus by pressing a button you rotated clockwise or ant-clockwise. The system just plugged into a standard Volvo or Cummings EDC system, and standard electric bow / stern thrusters.

This post is not actually related to your enquiry about Sealine Docking System, but I am aware that you are a previous owner of my boat.
I am trying to trace the history of ' Relax ', the Newbridge Navigator, originally from Falmouth I believe. So far, I have got back as far as 2002 when she was on Lake Windermere, but there is a blank period of history between 1983 and 2002. Can you tell me which years you were the owner of ' Relax ' please? Any information you might have that can help fill in the blanks would be much appreciated.
I have owned ' Relax ' for five and a half years now, and she sails across Falmouth Bay from the Helford River area to Falmouth Harbour and back, once a year in July for a few weeks and the rest of the season is spent on Carsington Water in Derbyshire. She is absolutely safe, reliable and stable. I am indeed a proud owner of this boat.
