I think you have to be careful about the CE plating category, it is only a guidline set up by some beaurocrats and each EU country doesnt have to follow exactly the same guidlines when labelling their boats or even if they are supposed to they dont!. For example in Spain one manufacturer has been known to put category A ( ocean going) on 31 foot planing sports cruiser(?!?!?!) whilst over here most manufacturers agree that they would not put category A on much under 70 foot. so where the boat is built is definitly a factor and experience and knowing the boat is, I think, the only real way of knowing what you can and cant handle.
