Hi,
Does anyone know the transom height of a Seago 270 dinghy?
I'm about to order a new outboard, and need to know if I need short shaft or extra short shift.
The dinghy is on the boat 160miles away.

You should be able to work it out easily from these drawings.
seago 270 transom height metric dimensions - Google Search

Pick your model then with a tape measure measure the height of the transom (on the drawing)
Then measure the length of the dinghy (on the drawing). Then you can calculate the height of the transom.

16" short (standard) shaft outboard. Don't think there is an "extra" short shaft now the Seagull 13" shaft is no longer made.

OK I assumed petrol, so 16" is the shaft length of a petrol outboard from the top if the board to the cavitation plate. The Seago dinghies are the same as all the other similar hard transom inflatables

Checked their drawings and they do not measure to the same point, but to the centre of the prop, but pretty sure you are right as the length increments seem like the same as petrol engines short, long and extra long.
