ITYWF that the Nasa transducer will be a suitable replacement ..

Depth Transducer (with 7 metre cable) - Nasa Marine Instruments

Assuming yours is mounted "in hull" in a reservoir of castor oil check that there is still oil in there
but now is a good time to buy something more modern such as Depth Instruments Archives - Nasa Marine Instruments

If you would like a brand new transducer and cable, I have one in the shed, yours for the postage if that would help?

Thanks that would be great.

If you could find out what the postage to Johannesburg South Africa would be and how I could pay you I can transfer the money either direct or from my UK bank account.

I will try and find out next week, will need to get it out of the shed and make a package for posting and then get a quote. Will PM you once I have got this sorted. Payment could be via BACS probably from your UK account would be easiest.

Testing an transducer.

Test 1 - Put the transducer next to your ear. Then turn instrument on. Should hear a click or clicking.

Test 2 - With the instrument on. Rub the transducer face back and forth with your thumb or preferred digit. This should give some kind of
reading on the instrument.

As there are few working parts on the transducer , the likelihood is that the
instrument is at fault. I think I have a couple of Seafarers somewhere. I think one has the whirligig flasher with a digital read out as well no less.

For the full set one should have a Seafarer Sounder , Seagull Outboard, ply Silhouette and Walker Log. You can't just have one.

I have seafarer voyager instruments. For Well over 30 years now the annometer has been faultlessly whizzing around . The direction has stopped recently. I think it's the cable.
The echo sounder on their last instruments were still 150khz.
Even got a brand new 30+ year old echo sounder as a spare for if mine ever fails
