iam thinking of buying a seadog 30 in the near future i stand 6 foot four and would like to know the length of its longest berth also the cost of transporting this boat from the south coast to troon in scotland kind regards bigman1

The portside saloon berth is the slightly longer of the two. I am not absolutely sure it will accommodate 6'4'' although it is not far off - I will get a tape measure on it in the next couple of days and let you know. You would fit diagonally in the aft cabin with the infill in.

If you want an answer quicker someone on the Seadog forum here might know off the top of their head.

Also general info on these sites:

There was a very nice seadog 30 ketch for sale on ebay last week. Up near Skye somewhere. I think it was on a buy it now for 20 but the bidding started at 18. I have the guy's contact details if you want to PM me.

Measured the berths today - the portside berth is 6' 2", bulkhead to bulkhead, and the starboardside berth is just 6' 0".

And the 1/4 Berth? /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Could probably convert one of the cupboards into a Trotter box for an extra 8 / 10? inches.

Or fit a Pipe Cot on the Starboard side and you have the trotter box in place already - instead of a drinks cabinet /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

[/ QUOTE ]Have you ever actually climbed into yours - the length wouldn't be the problem, it would be getting the legs in if you were 6/4. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

But I was thinking good fun to try and measure /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif......But I shouldn't laugh too much, plan is that I will be buried headfirst in their early next year removing the hull lining.......am replacing the foam backed hull and bulkhead linings in the saloon and aftcabin (and also on a CI22 - but that is another story /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) so figure will do all at once.

(perished after 38 years? where's the Guarantee card??!)..........

Make sure there is someone who can hear your muffled cries for help and pull you out by the ankles. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Didn't realise there was such luxury on "later" models (I'm No 55). No foam backing on mine, just vinyl over plywood panels - unless the foam has totally disintegrated. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
