The balls are often the bit that does corrode as it’s usually made of different metal. One of the reasons TD are so popular as this never happens.
If in doubt replace. It'll give you peace of mind if nothing else
What the cost of a thru hull/valave assembly compared with the value of your boat?
Yup every one of my through hulls are composite, just like my hull. Not a commercial vessel though where there is a reg requiring engine bay ones to be metal for some pointless reason.Just a question about Tru Design.
Does one also change to Tru Design skin fittings?
It used to be the case that only metal was the recomendation below the waterline. Perhaps the composite are as good as metal these days.
Our heads outlet ballvalve seized a few years ago. Replaced the valve and thru hull with tru design.Yup every one of my through hulls are composite, just like my hull. Not a commercial vessel though where there is a reg requiring engine bay ones to be metal for some pointless reason.
I’d go as far as to say TD is the standard these days, everyone seems to be fitting them if replacing and many manufacturers now fit from new.
