Seabob - worth having?

Debating if I should get a seabob this year.

Anyone here own one?

Any issues?

For me I guess moving it to/from the engine room where I would hope to store it is one issue. Being just under 35kg not the lightest thing to move around. Where do you keep yours?

Tempted to get one with a camera but would the camera just be a gimic for a few uses and then not used after? Quick charger - guess I would have no choice but to get the quick charger as well.

Depends on your boredom threshold.
If it’s low - then don,t bother .
If it’s towards the goldfish end of the spectrum then - fine :)

We had a similar thing a Seadoo water scouter .
Rechargeable motor you hang on and it drags you about .Not as fast but more / less same - gnats brain entertainment valve .:)

With a snorkel obviously the amount of time under is dependent on your lung capacity.
Lasted two seasons , one spring I arrived to find if had had a leak and over the winter some internal electrics were a gonna .
Difference is it’s only a few hundred € to chuck away not several thousands when the inevitable happens - leaks .
Stand up paddle Board imho is a better toy - skill full and better fuller body work out .
If the sea temp s a bit parky - the motivation not to end up in increases and focuses the mind too , as well as various muscle groups .
Last longer and are 100 ,s of € .
Deflate at the end of the season or in season live on the bathing platform.

You can all have a laugh watching novices too :encouragement:

Another happy paddleboarder. Got mine last year and its the best toy we have. I try to have a 30-60 min paddle each day and always feel better for it. Easy to learn and great fun.
 
already have a couple of SUPs (so I dont disagree), plus I go out for a spin on the williams thoughout the day and snorkel. I am not a great one for sitting down on the boat and very rarely do that - hence thinking one more toy and that toy being the seabob :)

Quite fancy a mini submarine but my boat isnt big enough (I doubt it ever will be) and dont think my budget is big enough either!

I BOUght an inflatble sailboat. It is actually very good and only about e900. Kids enjoy it
 
We love them. My brother and I have 3 between us.

I totally disagree w portofino- the seadoo water scooter toy he is referring to is indeed pointless and you'll be bored in a few minutes. I've had lots of them, all now binned. They are Chinese junk running off a tiny motorbike starter battery. Something like 300watt motor. Junk. But seabobs are totally different - multiple kilowatts of power from lithium battery. Kids have had countless hours of fun with ours

I wouldn't pay the premium for the new camera superdooper version because a GoPro is fine. But no big deal if you fancy the camera upgrade on the base f5s. I would pay the premium for the f5s rather than f5- we have had both and the s is a lot faster. Fast charger is important if you only buy one seabob.

They are ultra high quality and not throw away items. Need to charge in winter. Difficult to store and it depends on the boat but I get them in a locker, just, with some effort.

No change out of £10k each, you'll realise :shock. Boats.co.uk do good deals as ever.

Was going to rent one for the day first. I know the seabob "fits" in the engine room, but the one I put down there was a display model without any battery - so only about 7kg. Actual seabob being 34kg need to ensure I can get it in and out easy enough. I guess at worst case can use 2 people.

So will have to rent the f5s and get a quick charger :). Around €10k + vat + €2k for the fast charger. Dealer at the top of the hill in portals and they can store it for me in the winter.

Are the inflatable SUPs any good? we borrowed some 'real' ones and my wife struggled a bit with balance in the flat calm, I thought about an inflatable one to keep on the boat but presumed that would be even harder to use not being solid?

An inflated SUP is rock solid. Remember there are different types of SUPs - general, sport, cruise or something like that. In general (from my limited experience) the wider the better. Maybe you tried a narrow one?
 
Inflatable SUP's are fine - just buy a good quality one (ie not a cheapie one) as you can inflate them to much higher pressure without them falling apart (tell me how I know !!). We have had a RED Paddle Co one (10' 6") for about 3 years - really good bit of kit - fun to use and great core body exercise.

Yes get one kids and big kids love `em. We have the F5 and standard charger. We manage fine with it- with several guests onboard we haven`t found we need to charge in middle of day so if disciplined and remember to put on each night been fine (assuming you have 240v to hand all night)- o course if you can justify fast charger using man maths then go fer it. The F5s is quite a bit heavier and with my back (and 9 year old kids) v happy with smaller battery F5. Got it from boats.co.uk delivered to sof as ever good deal quick delivery.
My man maths = got several hundred k£ tied up in the boat and the seabob is what the kids/ guests go wild about so worth it. Be careful not to run over ski ropes etc v frustrating hour unscrewing the whole thing to untangle ( of course this would never happen to me I must be talking about another sea bob). Mind you for a couple of hundred quid the guests love also paddle boards/ sofa towable snorkel kit etc.
