Seabob - worth having?

Be careful not to run over ski ropes etc v frustrating hour unscrewing the whole thing to untangle ( of course this would never happen to me I must be talking about another sea bob). Mind you for a couple of hundred quid the guests love also paddle boards/ sofa towable snorkel kit etc.

For some inexplicable reason I did not do this on my Williams last summer , but there is always this year! At least I know how to do it and with the right long tools have it down to 45 minutes!

I think that: given a combo of warm water and hot sun I'm definitely a big enough kid to want to have more than one go with a seabob and get the party started. Less so if one happens to be a billy no mates based in the Solent. Not that I am, of course...:D

I did do that this summer :(. Did not use any tools just brute force to remove the rope. Took around 45 mins. Guess you did a much better job than I did.

First time i did it i tried brute force ( I put the remains on the stern winch). Nothing.

When I removed the jet pump and impeller I found out why. There was probably 30 feet of line in there that vanished within the time it took to see what was happening and pull the kill chord!

See precisely 2:43 of this vid for a drone shot of Williams 385 sucking in a ski rope. Credits to A&K plus Nickh of this parish.
We got it out by melting/cutting the skirope, which was tightly wrapped 100x around the drive shaft, using one of those 240v hot knives that chandlers use to cut rope. Worked well.

The vid is Antibes Posse summer 2017 N Corsica cruise btw, with plenty of seabobbery.
2:46 is a video of the international distress signal. Performed to a drone :D

Tee hee! I think you're ok. Seabobbery is generic and can mean the F5 model. Seabob badassery requires the F5-SR model with custom paint or wrap :D
I've noted over last few months how addicted you are to "badassery" after it was first used on here a while ago in relation (iirc) to boat @rse-presence. #Docksidebadassery

It became my new word of choice for everything, I'm sending you the bill for my cognitive treatment to wean me off the use of it lol.:D

What’s the deadrise on the Costorama sofa? It seemed to be tracking well. ?

Inflatable SUP's are fine - just buy a good quality one (ie not a cheapie one) as you can inflate them to much higher pressure without them falling apart (tell me how I know !!). We have had a RED Paddle Co one (10' 6") for about 3 years - really good bit of kit - fun to use and great core body exercise.

Just found their web site, they look great bits of kit, but bizarrely for something sold heavily on its portability, there is no mention of what the things actually weigh! Only the weight they'll carry. (Unless I'm going blind). Doesn't matter how small they fold up if you can't lift the buggers easily.

Any idea?

Thank you. I noticed the wheels in the video which is what made me figure that perhaps they were heavy (that and not mentioning the weight!)

It's more about stowing and retrieving them from deep lockers without doing yourself an injury...

15Kg sounds about right and as you say the bag has wheels (mine also has ruckstrap/shoulder straps) so portability generally isn't a problem - we can get the sup, pump and split 3 part paddle all in the bag and still able to carry/wheel it relatively easily. However it generally lives in a locker on the boat and is then inflated on the boat when required.
