Naaaaaaaaa, can't be...............

Too many Welshmen crapping in it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Can assure you it is, along with Penarth Marina which is within the Bay. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I really ought to know the answer to your question as I am one of the technical advisers to the Sea Wych Owners Association unfortunately however I don't.

There are a whole range of Porta Pottis ( see www.thetford.com ) and I think the smallest of the range, the 135, which is 308 mm tall may just fit. I note that a marine version is listed and also a 345 which I think is the same size but with a lockable lid.

As I see it the main problem will be the position of the handle on the front that opens the valve between the upper and lower compartments. It will be necessary to fasten the toilet down, it will have to be as far towards you as possible in order to use it, unless you have very long legs, then it will not be possible to operate the valve to flush it. Some sliding system may be appropriate so that it slides towards you to use it then away from you to flush it.

I don't know how a Porta Potti can be fastened down. Maybe the marine version can be but I am not so sure that it is available in the UK. I also think some of the marine versions have provision for connecting to a pump out system.

There are a few other makes similar toilets on the market for example this one http://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/shop/detail.asp?ProductID=1779 but the Porta Potti is the well known make for which you can be reasonably sure of obtaining spares. All those I have seen have the same problem with position of the valve handle, some do have provision for securing though.

I know that some owners have fitted them so that they can be drawn out from under the galley sink. I'm not at all keen on that idea.

I believe the boat was designed with the SL 400 in mind although the Ball Hed Mini toilet was supplied for many years.

What toilet is fitted to your boat at present?

Maybe a question on the SWOA message board will get some answers.

One of our members has apparently fitted a Bi-Pot 30.

[/ QUOTE ] Correction: He has bought it but not yet fitted it. He is confident that it will fit with room to spare
