on my boat there is a sea water tap and a fresh water tap what would this be for

salt water tap is to make tea for mother-in-law & other unwelcome guests.
seriously, rinse the pots in salt first to save on fresh water, boil veg in 50% salt water etc.
if you live in a marina disregard the above and remove the salt tap!
