Sea water leak mid trip - what else could I check

Rupert you seen to had sorted it mate ,
One question . What Rabat like ?
Any problem? We might pop out of the Med next year and head that way for a few years .

We had no plans to go to Morocco and to be honest were too apprehensive going anywhere in the southern side in our years in the Med.

So we arrive a bit grubby and tired and with floorboards and all sorts covering the cabin. Hung around a couple of miles off to get signal and detailed chart and pilotage notes as we had nothing for that coast at all.

Bought a 7 day roaming package for 25 quid then another 10 minutes later as 45MB ran out but got what we needed.

Bar in harbour and entrance to river - accessible 2 hours either side of HW and by a happy coincidence it was HW -1. Called marina on Ch 10 - French preferred but they coped with English and marina pilot boat came out and navigated us in to the river.

Totally surreal experience - harbour beaches on the left pack full of thousands of happy noisy swimmers and picknickers - all mostly covered up. To the right ancient forts and city walls.

Pilot boat helped us tie up at reception berth - avoiding many many canoes, jetskis and kids in sailing dinghies. Police and customs arrived after 20 mins and put up with the mess down below and our very poor French. They couldn’t believe the SSR document was the actual boats registration but accepted with a shrug. Nice people.

Then finger berth alongside liveaboards - 20 quid a night with big discounts for longer stays and water and mains good - WiFi poor.

Apart from boat fixing it was a great city to visit for a couple of days - about 15 mins by tram to big Carrefour on one side and exotic medina on the other.

Loved it and would go back for much longer but would brush up on French as everyone speaks it.

Thanks for the info .
We love North Africa, we always found the people very welcoming .
French isn't a problem , my other half speak 4 languages one is French .
We keep meaning to leave the Med , we stuck in the Med this winter as we need to do some work on the boat , but next year I think we may just bit the bullet .

+1

I spent 5 years living and working in Tunisia and kept a boat in Monastir marina. Great people and a great departure port for cruising the central Med.

Monastir is just Ace , it's as safe as any EU marina , 24 hours guard , everyone friendly , it's cheap, we spend three winters there and love the place .
Only thing I would say is if you having any work done you do have to keep your eye on it .
