a roaring trip back in 20+ knots of wind - bit rolly as was said she would be but 2000 RPM gave us 20Kts water speed, squeezed out of Christchurch at the top of the second tide and back to Northney by 1545.

To check the nav lights came back out of northney to the fishermans pontoon in Emsworth.

More pic later, very happy...
 
Congrats, a great go-anywhere vessel for sure!
I would just attach the dinghy to some eyebolts, if possible.
It hurts to see those belts badly scratching the tubes...
 
Nice boat Ian :)

You could just use 4 x sponges on the dinghy, I use small fenders held in place with shock cord, about 4 years ago he replaced the stainless wire cable on the davits of your boat with Kevlar, not sure if the Kevlar string remains but it was asking a lot to hold 10/15 hp plus rib.
The idea is to squash the rib on the davits so it can not move, the straps dont do much unless the kevlar chaffs and breaks.

How did you enjoy the speed , was it as exhilarating as a reach @ 9 knots ?

Lovely machine Ian, glad all went well. I like your style in terms of going out to sea to test the nav lights :-)

I'm telling you how to suck eggs but I'd want to be very sure that liferaft is nailed down before going into big seas, for fear it would hit me in the face. I mean the chocks and the straps need to be thru bolted with ply backing pads. No self tapper screws anywhere near that installation

Gradually developing faith in the boat, took her out today over the bar and back, she didn't miss a beat, still a bit weird having no flappy bits and relying on just engines!

Dinghy sailor shook his fist at us - tight in the channel, what the hell do I do with 12 tons, hey ho daft sod, had it been me in the dinghy I think I may have tacked away from a vessel in the fairway!

Yes kevlar string on the davits which look like wire but feel soft!!

Garmin kit is to die for, the Mariners perspective charts are fantastic, simple enough for even me to use! Eat yer heart out Raymarine....

No doubt I'll post more daft questions but for now looking forward to the week ahead so I may be quiet while we b*gger off on the boat!
