Can anyone recommend a training centre for the RYA sea survival course. I live close to Norwich but my boat is on the Orwell. Therefore either location would suit.

I did mine at Fleetwood Nautical College, it was a course for fishermen etc, but certainly the RYA accepted the cert as part of qualifying for the YMO Commercial. Must be N Collage near you, it was a one day thing in the early 90s. Bill.

Suffolk Sailing 01473 833010 in Claydon near Ipswich.

Graham does courses at a Suffolk swimming pool. He's very knowledgeable, and I believe trains RYA instructors. The business also services liferafts etc.

Lowestoft Haven Marina Cruising Club are running a course at Lowestoft college in March. It is not a dedicated RYA course,it is better!!!!!!
The course is in their environmental pool and is an STCW qualification. If you or any one else is interested please get in touch

i did my offshore survival course at Lowestoft,it was a very good and comprehensive 5 day course,it was for rig workers,i still have a clear memory of bobbing about in a survival craft off of Lowestoft, the diesel fumes made a lot of guys sea sick

the helicopter bit in the pool was fun /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
