Thinking of joining sea start for peace of mind ,any experience are they worth it ?
Sailing from Falmouth and as for courses not necessary as I am a fully qualified marine engineer with a class 1 cert of competency . Engine is properly maintained but there could always be a rope round the prop or spares that you don’t have .How far is it from their nearest base to where you sail? Your money may be better spent on engine maintenance courses and tools.
Used them twice. Arrived quickly and solved the problems. Better value than most of my insurances.Thinking of joining sea start for peace of mind ,any experience are they worth it ?
Isn't that what the RNLI are for? Or sails? It is all part of the great tapestry of adventure that is life ;0)Sailing from Falmouth and as for courses not necessary as I am a fully qualified marine engineer with a class 1 cert of competency . You used them twice? 55 years so far and never needed to call anyone. You might want to look at how you go afloat. Try servicing stuff.Used them twice. Arrived quickly and solved the problems. Better value than most of my insurances.
That was unnecessarily rude. You used them twice? 55 years so far and never needed to call anyone. You might want to look at how you go afloat. Try servicing stuff.
RNLI are for saving lives - not a get you some service because you have somehow got your anchor buoy round the prop!.Isn't that what the RNLI are for? Or sails? It is all part of the great tapestry of adventure that is life ;0)
Why did you feel the need to say that? You used them twice? 55 years so far and never needed to call anyone. You might want to look at how you go afloat. Try servicing stuff.
No not used, yes a member, and yes good value.
I can fix most things, and have most tools on the yacht.
But what if not?
What if I am incapacitated in some non-life threatening way that doesnt justify the RNLI (yes also a member) or a PAN.
SeaStart for me is there incase the crew/wife need basic assistance.
So its mostly peace of mind.
