Scuttlebutt Fowey weekend - 6/7 June 2014

Latest: Weekend of Friday 6th, Saturday 7th June, 2014. Neaps. Saturday night on Fowey.

Falmouth Fleet: Meeting in Falmouth for a pub crawl with KevO on Friday night.
Plymouth Fleet: No idea. Someone needs to suggest something.

[Update]Fowey Harbour reservation made for Saturday 7th June. Discount agreed. More on this as we get closer.

For forumites in the South West who are interested in a long weekend potter, meet up for a few beers, a BBQ, or whatever.

Anything that happens won't have been organised, and therefore no-one can be held responsible for anything which may or may not happen on, or about, the days when we may, or may not, meet up, accidentally. If you happen to meet other forumites in a particular location you'll be doing so entirely at your own risk. Blah, blah, blah.

Its a long way off but yes that would suit well. Fowey Gallants or maybe Helford sailing club for a rendezvous?

Yarp... I'm game... Falmouth, Helford, Fowey etc, many pubs to choose from.

Count me in-any of the above. Another suggestion-Newton Ferrers.

Although to suit both Plymouth and Falmouth forumites, Fowey would seem best geographically. Fowey Gallants already mentioned.

I'd be up for it as long as it's not Newton Ferrers - I haven't managed to get a berth there for years!

A few suggestions:

The Royal Fowey does a good meal though it can be a bit hit-and-miss as the caterers aren't always there or they might have a function.

For a barbecue I like Channals Creek on the Fal (below Trelissick House) or across the water by Turnaware bar. The Smugglers Cottage is due to reopen next year AFAIK.

There are a few spots for a barbecue around the Dandy Hole and road access at Wacker Quay for those without boats.

Always happy to host a gathering, our cockpit is even bigger than JJ's

Hi Russell - it would seem churlish not to wouldn't it :) ! For us it would probably have to be May onwards - E'le May is out of Cornwall until mid April at the earliest (missionary work in the Solent).

The weather in May and June always seem to be better than when the kids are off school.

How about we don't organise it for Fri 6th to Mon 9th June?

Falmouth and Western posse meet Falmouth Fri night at the Chain Locker, Eastern posse meet Plymouth way somewhere?

All meet up Fowey Sat PM.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a plan man...

Did you mean yes or no for the 6th/9th?

6th etc sounds good to me-boat in Plymouth.

That's the idea! Do we need to worry about tides down there, or it that just a 'Solent' thing?

Yes.

Russell has a pathological fear of organising anything. So the organising that won't happen, won't happen on the 6th :)

Pete

Looks to me like I'm not involved now anyway. Did you like how I did that? ;)

Tidal streams not a problem, it's neaps anyway.
Sorry about it being in feet, I just can't imagine depths in metres!

OK, I think I get it now. ;-)

Ru88ell, tides not critical down here, especially if people are coming from both East and West. As it happens 6th June is neaps anyway. Not that we are organising anything in Fowey, are we?

Beaten to it by Dylan, at least we agree!
