Scuttlebutt Falmouth?/Fowey?/Plymouth? weekend - Spring

XCWeather says S4 for Sat, Passageweather agrees. Friday is E4-5 on both. If that doesn't change we'll head west on Friday.

Happy to give a final word Wed.

Regrettably we on BlueChip have to pull out of this event.
My son has been in hospital for some time and we've just been told he should be released at the end of the week.
Hope you all have a great time.

Folks

I'm putting together the 'Spotter's Guide' tonight/tomorrow, containing info on those heading to the buffet at Fowey. Please let me know ASAP if you are NOT ATTENDING. The weather seems to have lessened, and the final cut off point is Wednesday night. I don't want the club buying more food than they can sell to us.

If you use Facebook, and plan to take pictures, can you please 'Like' the page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scuttlebutt-Fowey-Cruise/1449604101917896 I can then make you an admin which means that you can upload pictures directly to the page for all to see.

Cheers

I'm in for the Friday meet up at Falmouth. Also likely to sail to Fowey on Saturday, but not in $hitty weather, (although currently, the weather looks reasonable).

Count me out for the buffet at the Gallants as it's swmbo birthday weekend and she is asking for a meal out somewhere else in Fowey.

BTW
Saw lots of dolphins last weekend and also heard from others that the dolphins have been around the bay for a while. Keep a lookout for them!
Saw a couple of the dustbin lid size jellys in the bay!

Russell,
you are right the weather has changed considerably.
I will no longer be sailing from Plymouth on Friday (Strong Easterlies = nasty and rolly passage)
Planning to sail (or it could be motor) on Saturday

Sadly my refit has uncovered more bodges to sort out and despite many late nights i am nowhere finished. Swmbo also v pissed off with me and boats so i will not be coming. :(

Hi Russell, Mordor won't be in Fowey unfortunately. The weather has slowed our passage south so it looks like we'll still be in Jersey by Friday with uncertain wind predictions for Saturday. Hope you all have a great time.
Dave

Cats luuurve strong tailwinds. I'll be sailing Friday for definite, resisiting the temptation to head straight on down to the Scillies!. 2 for supper.

Anyone who's in Fowey Friday night consider the virtual gin pennant hoisted. Just look for the Great White Wing.

Confirming 4 of us on Django for Saturday. Weather not looking great for Cawsand on Friday so possibly heading for the Yealm or perhaps a Saturday departure leaving the night free for a visit to the Minerva :)

We will be there one way or another. First plan was to overnight Friday in Cawsand, but the strong Easterlies make that a no-no! So, if still strong winds Friday, we may head down the Tamar, and straight to Fowey, arriving early evening.

Second plan is to leave Cargreen breakfast time Saturday and head down river against the tide, and hopefully arrive Fowey late afternoon.

The third plan is, if sailing down is out of the question, we will be travelling by Land Yacht to Fowey, arriving in time for the Buffet at the Gallants. Two of us for the meal, please.

Hopefully the winds will moderate by Friday, and we'll have a great said along the coast.

I assume that the person(s) not organising the event will pass on a contact number and/or boat name in due course?

Geoff

Russell, confirming So-Long and crew of 2 will be there on Saturday night.
My plan is similar to Appledores plan 2 above , except that we have written off Friday for sailing in a small boat unless you set off pretty late which of course you can do cos it stays light late on.

Rgds , John

Sorry Russell, I won't be making it to Fowey for the Scuttlebutt meet, my plans are very fluid at the moment. I might well end up in Fowey but it will be more by accident than design. If I do I will swing by and say 'hello'

Russell, Me +1 are still game for Fowey.

On another note...

I still have no idea who is coming along for the evening meet and greet in Falmouth on the Friday evening. The non-plan is to meet in the Prince of Wales from 1800 (moving on by 1915) and ending up in the Chain Locker by 2300 ish.

I will be starting a separate thread for anyone to add their names etc to the list. http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?398619-Falmouth-to-Fowey-Scuttlebutt-Run-Friday-meet-and-greet-in-Falmouth&p=4784754#post4784754

Once you have added your names please PM me with your email address and I will send you a map and an itinerary by return so we can be tracked and joined up with as required etc. It won't be a stoopid boozy night by my design (although each to their own :-) ) so no-one should be put off coming along... it will be SWMBO friendly.

No worries... that may just mean holding off in the bay for an hour or so before returning home on Sunday afternoon if necessary. It's normally held about lunchtime ish but I suppose it'll depend on the tides :-)
