scrubbing, scraping and sploshing

Not coming out until 20th April just for a week.

I've been fitting a fridge today - blimey what a fiddly job, lying on the floor, reaching into unknown places, drilling holes, feeding cables. You need two left hands one minute and two right hands the next, seeing round corners would be helpful and locating the drill with the use of mirror was a new trick. Still almost done, back tomorrow to finish off and see if it works.

Soon be time for cold beer /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Planning to make first visit of the year to BR this weekend to make a start. Have already booked my launch so planning on making a big effort to get all the underwater stuff done asap so I can get her back in the water again. As she's on a marina berth can always do any of the other stuff once she's afloat.

Mr.T has a copper bottom requiring the most delicate rubbing with sandaper only.

Hope it's not Flag Copperquick. Was 4 times more costly than my normal antifoul and worse than a quarter as effective despite constant scrubbing off. No apologies from Flag but they did admit it was useless as an antifoul. This year I've had to re-prepare the bottom to accept normal antifouling. Priming last weekend, real stuff goes on this weekend.

Fridge now working /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif What a knackering job! Had to ring Waeco as I connect it all up per manual and it didn't work - checked it over umpteen times. "How have you connected the thermostat" "C and D terminals per manual" "It should be D and T". Tried that and Bingo! Blooming manuals /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That's always the way /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I offer my profound apologeticles and place myself at the mercy of Guapa in the sure and certain knowledge that the punishment will be fair, painful, but fair

Likewise... one weekend of frenetic activity, and she's scrubbed, scraped, sanded, polished and ready to go..... even managed to fit a ground plate...

I can however categorically state that i NEVER want to drill holes in my boat below the waterline again!

Saturday
Turned Sirenia round so I can get at the Port side to finish striping paint off the cabin side and applied paint stripper covered with cling film.
Got that to wash off tonight.

Sunday
Made up a new wiring loom for the engine and got the engine running.

Next weekend
Scrap off as much antifouling as I can get at, install a new cutlass bearing clean out and prepare the engine bay.

Plan to start repainiting weekend after next.

We got the mainsail, sprayhood & jackstays back on yesterday. Once the genoa is back on we will be ready to go!

I took the opportunity at HW to run the engine and 'exercise' the drive leg which had ceased up a bit.... raise & lower about a dozen times got it manageable again.

I got to the boat....
