Why buy a mixed bag when you can get ones specifically for your job. When you see the range of sizes and types you depend on a fair amount of luck to get what you want in a mixed bag of 50

Good idea, buy a bag of the wrong ones.

I posted a link to a bag of 50, all the same, way back in post #7, i didn't mention mixed bags of anything.

The OP had already discounted square ones and the ones I showed are designed to work in a hole the size the OP stated, silly me

Indeed, the ones you linked to can't be used with screws.

The OP discounted square ones because they are for 8mm holes. Rather than drill the holes slightly he plans to chop Rawlplugs up and glue them in.

I've ordered 10 7.9mm square ones to try - will post back when they arrive and I've tried them.

Indeed, the ones you linked to can't be used with screws.

I foolishly thought not having screws would be easier which of course is why the automotive industry uses them. You can get versions with their own plastic screw which you push in and screw out if screwing is essential.
