Screeching 2 speed winch

One of my Gibb jib sheet winches has started making a screeching noise.

Any ideas what it might be ?

I took the bell housing off and had a look and everything seems ok ( to one who know's not much at all !). Lubrication seems ok . I read somewhere that you should not grease the pawls but only treat them with light oil - I have not greased them this season though.

Try lubricating the centre spindle, around where the winch handle goes in.
