Please could some body help me, my mate has just bought a scorpio deep v speed boat,we have been told that it is british but that is all that we do no,we would like to find out some background on this boat ie were they made them, wot year they stopped macking them, and wot sort of write up they had thanks very much Steve Rochford

The Scorpio was built by Brooms. Now whether that is Broom Boats of Norfolk, Britain's longest running motor boat builder or by someone else from the Broom family such as a Cousin or whatever I really do not know.
You can start by dropping them an email enquiries@broomboats.com you will find them most helpful.

if it is a Broom Scorpio then you have quality there. Brooms are known for quality.

Hello Byron, i was thinking in that direction but i have been told that scorpio was the make not broom. this is doing my head in i have a feeling the boat is late seventies early 80's. the boat is a SCORPIO BRITANIA it is bright yellow the seating position is that you sit really low down in the hull the rear passengers all you can see is there heads wen looking from the shore.this is well odd nobody seems to no anythink about this make boat thanks Byron look forward to next message Steve Rochford

I do remember a make of boats called Scorpio from the 60s & 70s but I suspect it's one of those firms that came and went. There were many such companies in that era. I am sorry I cannot be more helpful. I have reference books of that period but none show speed/ski boats so I have to rely on my dim and distant memory.
By the way, the seating position you describe is not unusual indeed most if not all were like that.
