Scary Questions to ask at upcoming arc seminars

Can you give us a rough guide as to the number of lashes that are appropriate punishment for stealing food, insolence, flirting with the skipper's wife and other serious crimes on board?
I think crew discipline is VERY important.
By the way, is anybody else having trouble in getting crew this year????

Diesel Stops

As we plan to cross at 20 - 30 knots will we be able to fill up with diesel on route . Would it be advantages to fit a mast and take sails in case we run out ..

Just thought i would point out that you only need 3 body bags for a crew of four.......unless the last person gets in the bag and commits suicide.

And, how far out do you have to be before it is bury at sea rather than get to port?

My son ( who knows about these things) says that according to the Captain's Medical Guide you are obliged to keep the body(ies) on board so that a post mortem can be carried out when you reach port. Ideally, it (they) should be kept refrigerated. The prospect of my wife squeezing me into our top loader fridge encourages me to stay healthy. Anyway, she would have to take the beers out first and I would not want to be responsible for warm ales!

Yet at the same time the Ship Captain's Medical Guide has a section on how to perform a burial at sea should keeping the body become unhealthy and impractical.

However, the paperwork and questions are much less if you keep the body.

- Seeing as there are some yacht sinking whales on that side of the Atlantic, what is the recommended method for discouraging a large amorous / angry whale (without causing it any distress of course)?

- As official Arc pirates, how many boats should we attempt to board during the crossing?

- I'm a bit worried that my superior head sails will mean I get there too quickly before the parties start - when do they start?

- If I can't get my superior headsails down - and overshoot - how long do the parties continue for?

How exactly do you keel haul someone?

Follow-up question - does antifouling diminish the effect?

(HatTip to http://www.bilgemunky.com/radio/ - yes it's very silly, but I find it amusing)

Be a good chap and give it a scrub as you go past.

Love the music but the video could have been more instructive, eg what length sheets should one use to keel haul, say, a 6ft bloke on a yacht with a beam of about 14ft? The other thing I didn't quite get was how one gets the ropes attached to the ankles underneath the hull whilst the victim is still on deck? Slip them underneath the bow?
