SC29 - Fuel consumption?

You couldn’t stick near the coast and just sail close to it down to Bordeaux then? I thought a 30ft boat would be enough but maybe not. You see ppl crossing the Atlantic in 30ft sail boats. I thought a 30ft motorboat would be more better on the ocean waves. With the added motors to plough you through them waves ? or Am I being naive again lol
The worst part of the trip could well be trying to go round the coast of Brittany in such a small boat.
There is a possible alternative, maybe. I've crossed from the UK to the Channel Islands and St Malo in a 25ft single petrol engined boat.
There is a canal that goes from St Malo (Dinan) to Nantes. This cuts out the Brittany section of the voyage. I'm not sure what the airdraft of the SC29 is, but it might fit the canal. (I think it needs to be less than about 3.2 metres but I'm not 100%.) You would then be out into the Biscay coast and could coast hop to St Gilles/Les Sables, La Rochelle etc - marina to marina.
But if you tried this, I'd take someone with experience of navigation and offshore passagemaking along with you. Anyway, good luck for having some dreams and ambitions!
