I have a Mini M system on the boat have not used it as yet due to the fact that I need to purchase a SIM card. Does any one have experience knowledge in this field with respect to the service providers and how I can contact them. I will use the equipment for both voice and data, what sort of charges can I expect.

Any help advice much appreciated.

I've been researching this myself recently and have found it dificult to get firm prices for calling cards or contracts online in the UK but BT charge £2.60/minute to call Mini M satellites . Hopefully BT do not follow France Telecoms policy of charging a minimum of 3 minutes per call too!!

It's not all big bucks though. I have found that I could use the Globalstar satellite phone to call the UK from France for less than i pay using the France orange GSM network! But it would still costs £4/min to call me
