Sant Carles marina bring in high car parking charges!


I believe bringing in car parking charges is grossly unfair and just another MDL way of squeezing every bit of money they can get out of their clients!


Annual charge €200
Monthly charge €60
Monthly charge low season €40


I have been berthing my boat there for eight years and on average go 6 Times a year and I've never seen the car park full, now suddenly they introduce these charges! They have told us all that it is for security purposes! Yeah right!


The manager claims these charges are fair and a lot less than other marina's.


Can anyone out there confirm car parking charges in their respective MDL marina? Or for that matter any marina.

Crikey!
Antibes- first car free with the berth. Second car €300 per annum.

Shamrock quay charge outside contractors £7 per day.
Torquay charge but not sure how much.
No charges elsewhere as far as I know.
 
Its free for B holders @la Napoule , but we the berth holders run the show -we are all share holders
and via AGM ,s etc -call the shots .
Our charges to others -none berth holders last year raised iirc
around € 700 ,000 to go into the running pot
It's a nice little earner for us

I guess without that our maintenance fee would be higher
Revenue from P ( none berth holders ) offsets running costs

So back to the OP
There's no such thing as owts for Nowt
So if MDL did not raise € from parking they would be looking somewhere else
Like upping maintenance etc .

We get € 32 -day from none berth holders -folks using the beach etc
 
if you park at the entrance on the left hand side it won't cost you anything.
but then that would involve a 100yard walk ,hardly a marathon.
 
Only place I have come across in Mallorca is alcudia but that is for visitors. I don't know what berth holders pay.

All the other marinas I know of that have parking ( some in Palma don't ) there is no charge. Indeed people park cars there for months !
 
I wouldn't commit to an annual berth unless I could park as well, same where ever you go now, driver is the easy money maker, how else will I get to my boat. Friend has berth at Torquay and pays £310 for parking and any additional permits if needed are £450, now that's taking p*** in a big way, wonder what it will be when new carpark is built
 
Club de mar in Mallorca. Free for the boat owners, free for illegal workers with no insurance, 5€ per hour for contractors who pay all taxes and insurances.......

So just to clarify then, EVERYONE can still park for free at SCM. It may entail a very short walk for some but we used to walk further than that at Cobbs Quay on a busy summer Friday night. And of course, everyone does get 3 hours free which is plenty of time for loading & unloading etc. So not quite as harsh as is being made out & certainly in line with many non UK marinas.
 
if the berth holders rent off MDL instead of renting though a third party they would be entitled to everything that they are not happy about.
but that would cost them more, my view is if you pay less why should you be entitled to the full benefits .

Especially as the prices they are paying are the cheapest that you will find anywhere.
Last week I was talkung to someone who was complaining that his rent for a 20m berth had gone up from 4000 euros to 6000 euros for the year - and that includes all the water and electricity he could eat.
