Sanding pads advice

I use similar sanding sponges, or Scotchbrite pads, to clean the hull before antifouling. I do it wet, with a running hose, to wash all the residue away.

I went to Wickes and splashed out about £15 on a pole sander then on to Toolstation for some carbide mesh. That worked well for wet sanding our boat’s antifoul, kept my hands dry and left enough sanding mesh roll to last for many more lift-outs.

Mesh is the way to go. Normal wet and dry or pads get clogged up too quickly. Hose spray in one hand, mesh in the other - so much easier.
