Are you using the original mains 'wart' (charger) and lead? If yes, ignore the following.
Unless,
a) You are 100% confident that the original Samsung charger contains no specific wiring to determine the device charge rate, an aftermarket charger may only trickle charge, if at all (see next)
and
b) (Using an aftermarket charger) you are sure that the charge voltage at the tab does not sag below a the voltage threshold required by the charge rate control electronics in the tab,
then you may waste hours, just as I did - see #16

It was always charged with the wall unit that it was supplied with, since the failure I have tried just about every compatible lead and wall unit I could lay hands on. All to no avail.
