So whilst rewiring the Westerly Longbow I was planning in adding 3 Swivel Led strip lights however as someone pointed out they are quite bright so looking for alrernative ideas on how I might light up the interior of the boat.
So pictures of what you have done to give me some ideas would be great......

Might be worth replacing the bulbs on the existing fittings first. I added MR16 LED spots to our old Moody. But now I've replaced the bulbs in the old fittings with LED modules I find I never use the spots.
 
+1 for simply replacing the bulbs with LED replacements. I had festoon type bulbs in my light fittings which I replaced with LED plaques (rectangular circuit boards with LEDs on them) with the wires soldered to the original brass bulb holders. That was because the available direct replacement bulbs weren't bright enough a few years back when I made the change. Given the higher brightness LEDs now available, you might be able to use use direct replacement bulbs.
We do have some LED lights fitted in the boat but they're replacements for broken kit like fluorescent lights.
 
Cheers but the old ones are cracked and damaged just not sure if i should use recesswd spots throughout the coachroof or coupla reading lights or use some led strips or a combination of the above
 
If you opt for LED strip lights, I can recommend ATEN Lighting for exactly what you want, with or without switches, warm white or cool white lighting, long or short lengths with wires to length required.

They also do replacement bulbs, not the cheapest but superb service and delivery. They are very helpful if you talk to them.
 
If you can cope with the cold white LED light then strips sold as day Running lights are cheapest from China just stick the strip to the ceiling and hide the wires to remote switches. These can be really good for under the hull/cupboards or over the galley. olewill

Cold white when I want good bright lights.

Warm white when I want a nice ambiance.

Red for night lighting.

I also used these to convert all my old 12V fluorescent light to LED.

Same here Roger.

I have also just bought some recessed LED lamps from Ebay. These are touch sensitive switching, they look very well made, not cheap rubbish. Very bright too.

Warm white led strips mounted behind handrails to give a soft indirect light have worked well for me .
 
I've used led running lights for trailers and HGVs. I replaced the red nav station light first and it was so successful, Ive used white ones as hidden cabin lighting.
