Sales Order book

Correct. My SWMBO eats boat salesmen for breakfast and very few survive a grilling from her. I remember taking her to Sealine open day on the Hamble many years ago. She buttonholed one poor Sealine bloke and started having a real go at him about what she thought were poor design and layout aspects of one particular model. After about a 5 min rant during which the Sealine guy was looking increasingly cowed, she eventually asked him 'and who are you?' Turned out he was Tom Murrant, the founder and then owner of Sealine. To be fair he was extremely courteous and thanked my SWMBO for her comments but I bet he was thinking somebody save me from this wretched woman.

As a previous owner of eight Sealines (seven new) Tom was frequently harangued by my SWMBO too. He was unfailingly courteous even under the most withering criticism or Inquisition like interrogation! As a boat owner and user himself, he often got the point unlike many of today's sales persons who are just and only that. Tom was much better in that respect than the "industrial and financial" types that succeeded him.

Better get her a Nordhavn

Interior was deemed "too woody " and she requested a big sun pad ,with headrests so you can see what's going on when sunbathing -( Med based ) and the bathing platform had to be low enough so she could sit and dip feet in to cool down ,with out actually need ing to go into the water .
Not Fussey 2nd time around :) -that's the point you end up with a like reverse wish list ---of what you do not want ,
Like a Slamming hull for example .
If you look@ some platforms they are too high

Its A BRIT thing half the sales people dolly birds etc are brought in for the show and are not customer freindly
A few years back SS launched the predetar 80 biggest thing they made at the time i tried to get a look on board
Oh no sir have you pre booked have you done this and that can we have a blood sample i am sorry sir i cannot let you on .
ok two weeks later i was at dusseldorf show and the boat was there, nobody waiting around so i asked the sales people if i may look on board, can you give us 5 minutes to have the boat ready sir and you will be able to view.
what a difference in attitude , if you have not been to dusseldorf you should for the experience, nice decent sales people no pressure and have the time to discuss your requirements, this applied to all the stands i went on a breath of fresh air.
Better get her a Nordhavn

So yes boat salesmen should sell to the wife as well as the husband. I often think that it is the husband who comes up with the shortlist but the wife that makes the final choice

I think the sales team should actually consist of both male and female sales people, If you look at how Martin Payne works selling Hunton's . It is actually both himself and wife that are there on sea trails and hand overs. Martin speaks to both but his wife Nikki is there also and helps also to show that boating is a joint husband and wife adventure. If you look at their sales record this approach works very well and I am sure is appreciated by their customers .

I thought Hunton had gone bust?

My wife must be a lot easier to please than all of yours. As long as it says Fairline on the side, has a big fridge she can fill with Cava, somewhere to watch telly and lie in the sun then she's happy.

She doesn't even want a big boat (only because she's lazy and thinks it will be more effort running up and down the side decks).

If she expects to improve vs. the Itama, I'm afraid TwoHooter is right, you can only look at D hulls and forget P speed altogether, for a real game change.
Among P hulls with the better "non-slamming" reputation, Itamas are surely up there with a very few others! :encouragement:
