Sorry kds.... Charles does NOT own the Duchy of Cornwall... it has existed since the year dot to make sure the heir to the throne has an income separate from the Crown estates. It is a strange anomaly that he does not have to pay tax or request planning permission (but voluntarily does both) yet has to go through quite a complicated procedure should any asset disposal be required.
It is an archaic backwater of British society that for reasons best known to itself fiercly protects its backward and old fashioned ways to the frustration of the mainstream business society.

Well, as others have said, someone or other would decide that they owned the sea bed and charge us for its use. Personally I'd rather have the Duchy who do seem keener on the preservation of the environment than others could prove to be. I mean, just think if it was a local or county council that owned it - god help us /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
