That's what he told me too when we last spoke.
He seems to find his phone 'confusing' at times and hard to work with only one hand.

Just had a call from Roger. Much more lucid, back on to solid food and he can wriggle his big toe and gaining a bit of movement in his left hand. All good progress, albeit slowly.

I had a call from Roger out of the blue yesterday afternoon. He's struggling still but making small amounts of progress. This is helped by being back on the rehab ward after getting his negative Covid result. He is fully aware of all the positivity from the forum, for which he is grateful. He is still finding it difficult to text or use WhatsApp.

Just spoke to Roger, he sounds so much better and is improving. The physios are considering letting him home on parole.

Just had a call from the old codger.
He's certainly in much better spirits than last time we spoke.
Speech was much improved - I couldn't get a word in edgeways.
So, the old Roger is still 'all there'.
Yesterday he was able to stand up for the first time in weeks.
Walking is still some way down the line as after 10 weeks of immobility there's some muscle wastage in his legs.
But being back on the rehab ward (rather than the Covid ward) means all the focus is now on his recovery.
To quote his words: I feel like I have turned a corner.

It was good to hear from him again.
And to hear that he's now on the mend has sort of made my day.

The first few months after a stroke can be a very hard time, and a period of low spirits almost universal. I don’t think that there is any solution to this except time and encouragement. The good thing is that there‘s no cut-off point for recovery, and I have seen people continue to improve after years.

Just spoke to Roger. Sounding better all the time voice much stronger. He told us about a case meeting today, when he got to see Mrs Sailorman for the first time since the 22 December, plus son.

Next stage still to be decided.

Had a brief chat with Mrs Sailorman yesterday. She says Roger is now waiting to be transferred out of hospital to another facility. He is still making progress, but slowly.
