Anyone out this weekend?

We're having a gentlemans mini-cruise. Chef, plumber, dentist, retired (yesterday) airline pilot and self. Cowes tonight and Yarmouth Saturday, then round the back of the island and home Sunday. Weather looks cooperative and agreeable.

We have promised all our wives sensible behaviour. Hee hee!

BTW, we are just going out for the day tomorrow. SWMBO has to be at Gatwick very early on Sunday morning, otherwise I would be very pleased to join you down West.

At long last, yes- YIPPEEEEEEE- day sailing though as I have to go and help a friend drink lots for his birthday on Saturday night.

As an aside,

I took the dog for a walk on Teignmouth Beach yesterday and find it incredible how many different faces the sea can have. It was a beautiful afternoon with sun, no wind and calm sea- they were still making repairs to the sea wall after the storms recently whent there were 10-15 foot waves coming in over where I was walking. Amazing

Would have joined you but sails off for valet and minor repairs - back on next weekend and will kep boat in so if you want to do it again later let me know.

Ok i would come and a whip your arse, but saturday i am finshing of a few bits on my boat then sunday iam at sunsail all day doing the poxy radio course, after 3 years i thought i'd best do it!

If all goes well we hope to be on one of the outer bouys at Yarmouth saturday night, but just noticed when leaving for work this morning the rubber dubby deflated on one side for no apparent reason.

I'd love to be out sailing this weekend but my lad has rugby matches both Saturday (school) and Sunday (club), so as a responsible Dad I have to be there to cheer him on. I'm sure you'll all have a great time, and hopefully we'll be with you for the Amaye reunion cruise!

Sailing - Report

Well so much for the balmy weather. We did enjoy a decent sail on Saturday to Yarmouth, but today was pretty 'orrible and we motored around St Catherines Pt taking turns to go down below to read the Sunday papers and enjoy the Eberrrrrrspacher. Those who remained on deck had a less fabulous view than those of us gathered around the radar.

Solent CG were putting out alerts about 'dangerous objects' off Ventnor and when I checked the position, it was exactly where we were. We saw nothing else so concluded that we must be the dangerous objects. I say this knowing that Jimi was safely tucked up in Hythe trying to remove black silicon from his nether regions.

The crew formerly known as Captain Baz generously walleted the meal in the Baan Thai Cowes Friday night, and it fell to me to reciprocate in the Kings Head Yarmuff. There I met up with a fellow forumite, but promised to keep mum as his Swedish bombshell companion didn't quite meet the description he'd given of his wife.

The tooth-puller generously provided and cooked breakfast as he was feeling guilty about hogging the helm in the only decent breeze of the weekend. It occurs to me in writing this that the stop-cocker escaped with his collateral largely untouched, footnote in the log methinks.

I was surprised to see how many boats were out Saturday and disappointed that the shower code in Cowes was 0311 unlike previous winter months where 1664 was such a memorable number. Global warming or too many posts on here about the joys of winter sailing to blame?

Back home now and tucked up with a Rioja, what have you lot been up to?

Glad you had a good day's sail's mate. Well i went to a party last nite, then 9-5 dong my vhf/dsc radio course, the joys, not like i have ever used one, all helps.
I did see your pm, i will be reply!
Installed my gps chartplotter on saturday, very impressed!, even tells me what pontoon iam on!
dangerous objects, i told you the coast guard does not take lightly to dresses!

We woz up later than you son last night. None of my crew are young lightweights prancing around in Swedish racy numbers.

I called up Solent CG on DSC to find out what the 'dangerous objects' might be and they weren't sure but said it may or not be some railway sleepers. Just checking it wasn't the empty fridge we'd jettisoned on the way back from Cherbourg.

Well done with the radio course, but beware a chart plotter which is so accurate, it leaves an electronic trail. I remember trying to sneak out of Salcome at 0630 one morning and being intercepted by an HM launch. 'You're up early' I said. 'Have to be' he replied.
