Sailing trousers

I think they're different combinations for increasingly cold weather, not a list of layers all worn at once!

Yes.

The "long johns and shorts" combination must be a sight to behold, though :D

Increasingly common among racing sailors. It's really practical - especially with waterproof shorts. The fitted long johns dry really quickly compared to trousers, and the shorts give you protection from a damp deck. Also AIUI, a combination occasionally seen among hillwalkers.

On the downside of course you do look like a knob when wearing it :p

All this season ... and in the 'bad' weather it was shorts .... my pal had some posh quick-dry blue outdoor / sailing troos & occasionally complained about being a little damp .... but personally I never found it an issue ... apart from once when going ashore in the Dinghy (wet-bum)..... the shorts not the wearer ....

Do you buy posh proper high tech sailing trousers, pink Captain Curry's, whatever you turn up at the marina in or get something from the charity shop?

I have a lovely pair of henri Lloyds. Unfortunately I bought them in 1985. Now they are a bit snug.
Still wear the jacket. Still water proof though not pretty.

Another +1. The lightweight Kiwis are great once you've replaced the daft webbing belt.

+1, lined Crags in winter, their shorts or zip offs in hot weather, but Bushwhacker polycotton lined or unlined countrymans trousers from Fife Country(Hoggs of Fife) or other farming outfitters are pretty good too, for wear, warmth, drying and price.

Moleskins are a bit pricey nowadays, but last- the old non green ones get finally used up on the boat.
All the Site trousers from Screwfix seem to have gone up a lot recently-must be all these Chichester yotties buying them;)

Canterbury rugby or sailing shorts hardwearing too. Wore mine constantly from April to September on our cruise this year-did wash them!!
Had a pair of their red sailing trousers that lasted about 15 yrs-and they were 'shopsoiled' due to sunlight, when i bought them in Mylor too!

Of course, when in Sales/reduced, my savings go on another pair of Wed Cuwwys for posh yottin dos :)

Of course, the East Coast Forumites led by Full Circle will be along shortly to point out the only correct boatie wear* is a blue boiler suit for yotties, white for mobos, and orange with reflective strips if you work on/with ships or platforms and can get PPE freebies:D
*(And yes, Jim, I wear all of those normally, but have to dress smarter for SIBS, SWMBO insists!)
