I'll be somewhere northern France enjoying cultural uplift courtesy MrsTome, leaving Wed morning and not back for a while. Sneaking a few bottles of malt onboard tonight- oops, forgot I have a security leak hereabouts...

Well, assuming you're in southsea marina, the gate should go up again about 08.45. which leaves the tide option to take you west...unless you start about 0230!!
Otherwise, get out on the holding pontoon before the gate goes up, wait for just after low water, and get the tide east to one of my favorite spots ( don't tell everyone) Littlehampton. always room on the friendly harbourmasters pontoon, cheap ( 32ft £12) shore access, great for the kids, and ......quiet. Arrive about HW+- 1.5. Trip about 17nm each way.

Have fun whatever you do

Re: Ah Hamburg

The delights of the Funfair, Fishmarket and Brewery. Funny I can't remember the name of the street that ran between them

Re: Ah Hamburg

I only know one street name in Hamburg "The Reperbahn"(probably spelt wrong )

Vague recollection of a drunken night out turning pear shaped with humourless armed police not amused with our shortcut over some locked gates getting back to the ship....

Do you stay afloat in Littlehampton at low water? I've always fancied going there but a 2.1m draft I don't fancy taking the ground.

Our plan is to leave on the Morning tide sail to the needles and then drifct back to anchor outside Newton Creek and BBQ ont he foreshore there. Will probably be at least 3 or 4 other Southsea boats involved. Details will be worked out over a bottle or two on friday night somewhere on E or F pontoon.
