Re:safe but not very adept

Surely that's the point - safe should pass CS, even if not very adept, especially if aware of the lack. The adept bit will come with experience.

The Yachtmaster exam should expect adept and safe.

Re: How else?

Ubuysa, the answer is easy. Join Lymington Town Sailing Club and when your free on a Wednesday, attend the Meanderers' briefing at 09:30 and you will be allocated to a boat fro the day's outing. Failing that attend on the first Saturday of the month and join the Saunterers.

Re: How else?

Many thanks Oldhand I may give that a try.

I've just been on their website and seen they have an open day on 24th April, so I will pay them a visit then. Many thanks again.

Re:predictable

Yes!get the hours in it doesnt matter how you do it every time I've gone sailing or even been on a boat I've either learnt something or honed a skill picked up earlier.I've never been on a course or training session where I haven't picked up some thing useful.(some have been more fruitful than others!)
