I think they're dead and gone, Stormforce bought a lot of their physical assets.

Well, knowingly taking beginners out into Force 10 storms to be rescued by lifeboats, and injuring your customers on multiple occasions, probably don't make the business side any easier...

no vested interest, just curious....anyone ever done anything (course or charter) with LYC? contacted them yesterday and response to email was nearly instant, very positive and they seem like a nice bunch.

I've no idea. But I don't think anybody disputes that customers were injured on at least two occasions (crash gybe in Southampton Water and thrown against the wheel on the stormy trip) or that a crew of relative beginners were knowingly taken to sea into a forecast storm and were rescued by two lifeboats. Maybe the instructor's actions were not criminal, but these things certainly weren't good for business!

Surely the South Coast sailors know what 12 year old company, with their own offices and workshops in an envied location is, who's owner is retiring? I am just curious.

The thing is most ports/ marinas tend to have "there" top rated school who have the envied position in that marina/ port I am sure those in the know, know.

They also tend to have the "guru" that the locals know about who is the best instructor int he area if not the world...
