I've been giving this some thought cos I wish to explore and push my MCG26 to places no other boat has gone before. Obviously my water ballast will stand me in good stead until I can fill up when I get there but what material is best for the solar wind? Black front and white back all in cruising laminate .. presume A wing keel would be a useful addition .. anything else I should take into acount?

Coo, its been sometime since you turned your gaze on the McGregors. Did you spot one at SIBS and go all nostalgic?

You should consider fitting a backward-pointing bunsen burner with in-line Moulinex mixer to the heads outlet for that added thrust when leaving the atmosphere. Also, don't forget you'll need tiles to get back into the earth's atmosphere when you want to come home, just like the Shuttle. B&Q is doing a nice line in cheap bathroom tile remainders at the moment. Glue them on well all over the hull and coachroof and you'll be fine.

Coincidence or what! Well, we just over took one on a launching trailer doin 50ish mph. I hope you have a good flight, when you get there you will find you will not be alone. My son just told me that most people who own a McG 26 must live on another planet.

I have no idea what you are talking about but is it something about your embarrassing episode in an aquarium ? I believe Troy Mcclure had a similar problem.

Lining up for lift off

Saw this off Red Wharf Bay earlier this year. Only time I have ever had to ask a MoBo not to slow down as they passed - I didn't want to lose the photo-op.

They really were cracking along, and as I had had to go flat out at 6 1/2 kts from Caernarfon to catch the tide gates at Caernarfon, Swellies, Penmon Point & Red Wharf Bay, I was ever so slightly jealous - for a few seconds - until I came to my senses.

[/ QUOTE ] Wasn't he the captain of Stingray? He knew a thing or two about water ballast.

Anyway, at least you'll be able to get some sailing in when you get there - here's proof of water on Mars:
