Certainly works for me, OK I did get six stitches in my head once but that was when I was learning.

Think Ill try flying next, you just twiddle the stick and make sure you dont hit the ground too hard...simple really

There that proves the point

They should be made to attend a compulsory RYA course before they're allowed to even set foot on a boat.

Experience is no substitute for a proper paper qualification.

Boats are potentially lethal in the hands of these self taught inadequates.

Show them a Code "O" and they wouldn't know what to do with it.

Don't they know that we live in a regulated age?

Steve Cronin

I'm feeling quite faint after that. I must go and lie down!
(before I jump on the plane to Athens tomorrow and leave you lot to the chaos that you deserve by letting the regulators have unfettered control of your leisure activity. I'm out of it and aren't I glad!)

<hr width=100% size=1>The above is, like any other post here, only a personal opinion

Re: athens

I remember Greek plumbing and sanitation, and a true testament to the unregulated way of doing things it is too. They invented the flushing loo over 2000 years ago, and that's about the age of any pipework that still functions.

It only functions if you don't put paper down it!

Reminds me of a line from "The Hitch-Hickers Guide to the Galaxy" where flying is described as the art of throwing yourself at the ground and missing /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

When I learned to sail many years ago my instructor had a little motto signwritten on either side of the boom "DUCK or GROUSE". Being young & wet behind the ears I asked him what it meant. I was standing at the time - you can guess the rest.

Re: athens

why thank you kind sir
i asked my scouts last march (2003) on camp who margaret thatcher was
the best they could come up with was the old lady with the handbag
i pointed out that might be the queen
the only thing they could then offer was a dad who had once said bring back maggie
i felt very old
