Erm, NE monsoon is cool (25-35 degrees) and wet (very!) (december to may)
SW monsoon is hot (30-40 degrees) and less wet (june to november)
Me, I'd go in the rainy (NE) season, because all the Germans and South Africans stay at home so it's dead quiet. I was there december 2001 on Praslin Island and it were great! It's a peculiar feeling standing in torrential rain in a T-shirt and shorts in 30 degrees; rain stops, sun comes out and 5 minutes later you're dry!

Pretty much anywhere other than Mahe harbour

>navigation tips?
The islands are so close together that unless it's raining very hard you can just do pilotage. Don't sail at night because there are very few nav. lights and they aren't very reliable.
The Seychellois government is quite strict about anchoring and stuff; if you're chartering a boat it will probably have a load of booklets onboard telling you where you can't anchor, as the place is basically one big nature reserve. Some of the islands are privately owned; Wilbur Smith(trashy novelist) owns one of them, but don't know which.

Yes, most of them have a bar within spitting distance; again, the charter agent should be able to be more specific about good places to go and restaurants and stuff.

cheers,
david
