Sailing in Dubai

I live in Qatar, which is a short hop away.

We sold our boat before coming out, and now we hire a beach cat when it's windy. THe summer is too hot, but the winter is fine. There's a couple of golden weeks in November when the days are pleasant, and the sea is like a bath.

I've just got back from a week there on business ......... plenty of wind (F5 onshore), not much of a swell, great fun in the hotel Hobie 15 from Al Qasr beach.
Saw a few yachts going out - a couple of yachts about 37 - 42 feet, cracking along, a few much bigger ones further offshore. Weather is perfect in the winter, but as Sighmoon says ......... the summer is unbearable. (I lived there for 4 years and it's hard to explain what 45 - 50 degrees feels like).
Can't really comment on the sewerage issue - I didn't see any on the beach or in the sea during my stay.

We are moving to Dubai for three years and I'm keen to find a berth for our boat there, 40 cat. Can you give some advice and info of price level pls ?

I can think of a few other times when that advice would have come in useful !!

eg

"I'm pished off with working for this company"
"Let's buy a bigger boat"
"Will you marry me" /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif (ouch, what hit me?!)

As in the post above there's DOSC, also Dubai Creek has berths and lifting facilities (not sure for a cat though). There are loads of berths going into the new Marina City.
I have a friend who keeps his boat in Fujairah which is the otherside of the UAE and opens into the Indian Ocean. Small marina with plenty of space and, he reckons, much better sailing. Takes about 1.5 hours drive from Dubai though.

Thank's for your reply. Do you have idea of the cost level of the berths ? I've seen in the internet some incredibly high quotations ?

No real idea of prices except I was told Fujairah is a lot cheaper than Dubai. Best get in touch directly. I was in Fujairah middle of last year and they were putting in some new pontoons but still plenty of space for more so they should be reasonable
