what do I need to do when entering Ireland from an english port on an English boat. Hope to enter Kilmore quay from Scilly isles. Thank you

I had a chat with a irishman just lately who had just arrived in Plymouth to get a new mast as he couldn't sorce one in Ireland, blaming brexit bla bla bla . And I asked how tricky would it be to sail into irish waters and he said ,,,don't worry about it no one will ask for anything their all sick of it.

From Gov.uk
Check your passport and travel documents before you travel
ID
Ireland, along with the UK, is a member of the Common Travel Area. British nationals travelling from the UK don’t need a passport to visit Ireland. However, Irish immigration officers will check the ID of all passengers arriving by air from the UK and may ask for proof of nationality, particularly if you were born outside the UK. You are therefore advised to take your British passport with you.

For more information about the types of ID you might be asked to present, see the Ireland Citizens Information Board website.

Before travelling, check with your carrier about their ID requirements, as most airlines and other transport providers won’t carry passengers to and from Ireland unless they’ve seen satisfactory photographic ID.

Passport validity
If you’re using a passport to enter Ireland, it should be valid and in date. You should also check your air or sea carrier’s terms and conditions of travel. For journeys on the island of Ireland, British and Irish citizens do not require any travel documents when crossing the land border.

Probably nothing....bring your passport, ....if you attract any interest it will be customs thinking you are an Irish resident sneaking in a UK boat without paying vat....

The Common Travel Area between the UK and the Irish Republic was set up in 1921 IIRC and remains in force. No passport is needed, but it is prudent to have it.

We sailed across in early June and were ignored as far as documents and ID went at all Ports and Marinas. Currently in Strangford Lough, making the short hop to Ardglass tomorrow and then to Peel in the IOM for the Classic TT and MGP.

Just do it.

I have just purchased two good sized Lobsters direct off of a local fishing boat for 15 quid the pair. A nice 54th anniversary supper for First Mate and I...............................

The rules say that you must not land any fresh meat, veg, dairy or catering waste. Keeping fresh food on board for later consumption is ok, and all food waste can be ditched overboard when more than 12 miles from shore.

Handling and disposing of international catering waste

Just completed a trip from Wales to Ireland and back. No formalities at either end but I did dutifully submit a C1331 form. I was asked to confirm arrival by email, which I did a day late. I didn't use ports of entry and specified my expected anchorages by position and didn't bother with yellow flags. They seemed happy with it.

I prefilled the forms, emailed them to myself so I could send from my phone at the right time. I did not get more precise than day of travel. Bit of a sod when you have no phone reception....

I will use the new online system if its practical and I have a phone connection but wouldn't lose sleep if I couldn't register the trip.

As others have said, just do it.
