sailing from athens to uk?

On my trip, which was a delivery, almost 5kts overall in a 42'er - motored 25 % (?) of the time
So if you go for 4.5 knts and say, 3 days off it will take you 29 days OK ?

Throw away your maps - that really is the delivery way, just have detailed charts of your planned beginning and end point and have a passage chart (once saw just a traced bit of graph paper) for all the middle bits.

That way you are genuinely are taking less of a risk staying at sea compared to ploughing on in horrible conditions, and if you really have to get into a harbour then the old pilotage skills come in. Porto Cervo in Sardinia was a particular one I remember doing without a detailed chart when one of the crew wanted to jump ship - can't think why.

Hi Woody, i've just bought a 45ft mobo in Athens
Motoring home out of question 3,000 miles!!
By road £10,000!!
Cheapest option put her on the back of a ship
Cheers Tony

Good for you Woody! 35 days, 2,600 miles, plus the rest, you'll be needing some good and reliable crew.

You don't need to look far. Me and my mate Tam are partners in a delivery business so we can take time off whever we want to (I get my brother to look after the shop when we're away). Is it a steel boat? Tam's also a trained diver and can do underwater welding. Bad weather's not problem either as we both like a wee blaw every now and again.
