"Sailing" directly into the wind?

Found an interesting website about a boat that apparently can sail directly into the wind. http://www.windvinder.com/index.php?id=14&L=1

What puzzles me is that if this is possible, why is it that we don't do it on all sailing yachts. Admittedly, it uses a big windmill which might not be very convenient to mount. However, it would certainly get you off a lee shore!

They are mounting an expedition to find it. Starting this Spring. But it's in Oceania! Sounds rather futile because having looked at the design I would think it's got wrecked up by now.
Also how would you find it? Like looking for a needle in a haystack!
