Is this a new forum world-record ? first posting and somebody's already crying out for the editor... hey man , I'm a diesel and not even up to operational temperature yet ; that is indeed a plea for heavy editing in the future , wink (bis) , nudge (bis)
maybe Mr. Hollamby should go overthere and apologise on behalf of YM for the bad behaviour of novices in the world of forum-babble.
well , maybe I better join the ones I called silly , as the only editing that happens overthere is self-editing , apart from that they seem to battle it out pretty well.
and I can't wait to get going with some emoticons ;-)
thanks , I feel so honoured by this treatment on a first visit to this wonderful place , it sure must be a very gratifying job to be the guardian of peace and harmony , and by doing so causing a lot of grins in the most unexpected places. talking of a win-win situation.
at least , John_C should do a deep grovelling act of gratitude to you, that's the least , and that very fine gentleman on BYM that I dared to call s**** b***** owes both of you a couple of beers. I'll have couple of them on all your health this evening.
You seem to have a remarkable talent, either for saying things you don't mean or for being extremely offensive. Most people with the subscript (new user) after their names ask questions about their sails or engines, feeling their way into the forum protocol fairly gently. Not you, within your first three posts you make personal attacks on several of the regulars and finish off with a pop at the moderator.
Perhaps you might like to reconsider the value of your contributions and the knock-on effect on peoples' willingness to assist you with advice in the future? Or maybe you don't need any....
Hey Vyv! Lighten up!! I asked Kim to censor the post by Ghostwriter, Kim did so, and yes, I am grateful for Kim being a man of honour and righting a perceived (by me) wrong. Having said that Ghostwriter has his own right to express an opinion. If it is extreme it will no doubt be censored here. I believe that on BYM their approach is more along the lines of if you are not prepared to fight your corner do not make a comment...sort of self censorship I guess. His rather innocuous comments in his latest posts are not really worth getting excited over, and certainly were this person to make a genuine request for advice or guidance I would have no hesitation in answering if I felt I could assist.
I found “yachtingmonthly” BB due to the magazine. I joined in the BB and have had a lot of fun one way or another. I don’t always agree with everyone else, and must admit am a bit bias towards OZ, which I take great delight in promoting. Either through our latest sporting achievements or because of our sailing attractions. (Most of which I have sailed many times.)
I take delight in helping international cruising visitors sailing OZ, preparing their itineraries etc.
Over the last couple of years I have come to “know and respect many contributors, have verbally crossed swords with some many times, (g’day JJT) but always seemed to have found a new friend.
Surely we all have one thing in common sailing, but are all individuals who mainly do it “our way”
Why then do we have to have this constant Bull….t about one site better than another? Or the “old days” were better….. I like THIS site, the way it is… I visit other sites and sometimes post on them. Does that make me feel guilty NO?
I am not part of the” IN CROWD” just part of a bloody good BB
Well, that's up to you. I was the first person he had a go at, so I feel justified in defending myself. I suspect he has no interest in boats whatsoever. In his three posts to date boating is not mentioned, just sniping attacks on some of us.
Would love to scandalise this for a bit of fun but there's nowt to tell in this case.
When a new user gets a bit sparky I usually look at the admin info available to us, firstly e-mail address and then, if necessary, IP address and so on. I didn't get further than the e-mail address for ghostwriter and believe he is genuine...possibly genuinely surprised that I took action too, which wasn't personal as it happens. It's when I see something like basherbob@registermanysillynamesmail.com (just joking if you exist) that I start to get a bit more interested.
Not that keen on spoofs as they tend to stop me getting my beauty sleep and when you look like I do...
